Simon Kneel - Managing Director & Co-Founder
Simon and Helena fell in love with Cape Town and moved from England to set up Cape Portfolios in 2000. Before that Simon was a lawyer for 10 years with global law firm Freshfields in London and New York. Simon is a keen cyclist and triathlete and has twice completed Ironman. He has a passion for South African wine which he studied to Diploma level and has been very active in the local community having chaired the Camps Bay Business Forum.
Helena Kneel - Co-Founder
Before moving to South Africa with Simon in 2000, Helena had lived and worked in New York, London and her native Sweden. She has a marketing degree as well as extensive international design experience, which is very much behind the company's commitment to effective marketing and good design. Helena has also competed in local triathlons and in the Cape Town Cycle Tour, as well as pursuing her more relaxing interests in modern art and design.
Candice van Niekerk - General Manager
Candice is Cape Portfolios' General Manager with responsibility for overseeing our business operations and helping us as we constantly look to improve our guest experience and service to our owners. Candice joined Cape Portfolios in 2008 initially working for many years in our Reservations team before stepping up to this senior management role.
Chuma Gwenxa - Guest Relations Manager
Chuma joined us in 2009 initially as our receptionist from a 5 star hotel background but her energy and enthusiasm has seen her take on new challenges in our business. As Guest Relations Manager she is now responsible for helping guests book tours and villa services as well as liaising with them to ensure all runs smoothly during their stay. Chuma loves getting to know Cape Town even better through her job promoting tourism.
Naeema Jacobs - Reservations Manager
Our reservations manager Naeema grew up in Cape Town always wanting to work in tourism so she could encourage others to visit her home town and the beautiful Western Cape region that she loves so much. She spends much of her spare time exploring new attractions in and around the City, and she has become a big fan of the popular local sport of drag racing, though she also loves relaxing weekends by the sea in tranquil Langebaan just an hour's drive up the scenic West Coast.
Carmin van der Poll - Reservations Manager
Carmin recently joined us at Cape Portfolios, bringing invaluable knowledge and experience to her role in our reservations team having worked in the holiday villas industry since 2012. Raised in Kwazula-Natal, Carmin moved to Cape Town in 2011. In her spare time she is passionate about cooking and loves creating mouthwatering new dishes. She also enjoys spending quality time with her fiancee, family and friends and their two fur kids Jackson and Chloe.
Samantha Muller - Senior Property Manager
Samantha has been with us since 2012 and heads up our team of hard working Property Managers who oversee our managed villa portfolio including supervising our housekeeping team and the many contractors we work with to keep our properties in great shape! Samantha's work experience in 5 star hotels and her International Hotel School Diploma make her well qualified for her role. Outside work her interests include cooking, SA wines and travel.
Cailin Wilmore - Property Manager
Cailin joined Cape Portfolios in 2014 on an internship on her tourism management diploma course at CPUT, when her passion for the industry, and hard working, service minded approach shone through. She later returned on a full time basis as a Property Manager, with responsibility for managing our team of 18 housekeepers and maintaining our high standards of cleanliness and presentation in our properties. Cailin has always lived in Cape Town, which she loves, with visits to the winelands and West Coast a firm favourite at weekends.
Storm Low - Property Manager
Storm has joined our Cape Portfolios team as a property manager bringing with him knowledge and experience from numerous years of working in the accommodation sector. Having worked in the hotel and villa industry, Storm found his passion for the luxury rental market and managing properties. In his spare time Storm enjoys water sports, fitness, wine tasting and reading up on the property market.
Michaela Rodrigues - Reservations Consultant
Michaela recently joined our Cape Portfolios team as a reservations consultant. Born in Joburg but brought up in Cape Town she is passionate about our beautiful city and what it offers. This has led her to work in the tourism industry where her bubbly and friendly nature ensures you will have a memorable holiday. Michaela enjoys the outdoors, socializing and trying new and upcoming hot spots around the Mother City.
Melanie Joseph - Bookkeeper/Administrator
A born and bred Capetonian, Melanie recently joined our Cape Portfolios team as our bookkeeper/administrator. When she is taking a break from "bean counting” she loves to spend her spare time being surrounded by books and reading. She is also a keen cook and enjoys watching cooking shows where she gets inspiration to create new dishes. When not cooking up a storm, she loves to go on long walks and doing dance aerobic classes.
Ann Symmonds - Accountant
Ann has been with us since 2008 and she has always kept an air of unflappable calm and good humour about her whilst working away quietly and efficiently in our busy office preparing the accounts for Cape Portfolios and our many owners. In her spare time Ann is a keen amateur photographer and even her beloved dogs have been known to appear as models for her photo shoots!
Joy Arries - Receptionist and Administrator
Joy has the challenging task of managing our busy reception area as well as ensuring things run smoothly with the day to day administration of our property management and rentals business. She grew up in Ocean View on the Cape Peninsula and as a beach lover she still rates nearby Long Beach in Kommetjie as the best. Although further afield the pretty town of Knysna on the Garden Route would be Joy's number one holiday choice in the Western Cape.
