Self Catering Accommodation Llandudno
Llandudno is an exclusive residential suburb about 30 minutes drive from central Cape Town. It is reached by one of the most scenic coastal roads in the world passing through the equally popular neighbourhoods of Clifton and Camps Bay, with the steep Twelve Apostles mountain range towering high above the road and the glistening Atlantic ocean just below.
Here is our current selection of self-cetering Llandudno accommodation options and rental villa properties in Llandudno:
Llandudno initially established itself as a simple weekend getaway for locals from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town and at first just consisted of some small and very simple weekend cottages dotted along the edge of the beautiful white sandy beach or perched on the steep slopes that lead down to the beach from the main coast road to Cape Town high above.
However over the past few decades much of Llandudno's existing real estate has been developed into large, luxurious modern villas and the suburb has become one of Cape Town's and South Africa's most sought after destinations, for residents as well as local and international holiday visitors, including some world famous actors and other celebrities who have fallen in love with this now sophisticated yet peaceful and charming place by the sea. Despite the pace and scale of recent residential property development in the area, Llandudno has been keenly protected by its residents from becoming at all commercialized and unusually for a community of this size there are still restaurants, hotels or shops of any kind permitted anywhere in Llandudno.
This gives Llandudno a very peaceful, local feel to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike with the focus very much on enjoying the stunning sea and mountain views that most properties here enjoy as well as of course the gorgeous wide sandy beach at the bottom of the steep road winding down the mountain slope through the suburb. The beach is fringed by huge dramatic white boulders and is one of the best in the area for surfing or just relaxing on a hot summer's day, or chilling with a cool drink as the sun sets over the waves. Over to the left hand side of Llandudno and some way from the main beach area is another beautiful long sandy beach called Sandy Bay though it's worth being aware of it's reputation as the Cape's only official nudist beach before heading out that way!
In truth, while the absence of any shopping and dining facilities in Llandudno may not make it the preferred choice for those who like to be able to amble from their holiday villa for a bite to eat close by or to stock up with provisions at a local convenience store, we find that this element actually adds to, rather than detracts from, Llandudno's massive appeal. And after all, at the end of the day, Hout Bay's excellent modern shopping centre and many bars and restaurants are no more than an easy 5-10 minutes drive away from Llandudno.
