Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
The Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is a spectacular combination of forest and diversity of flora set on the Eastern foot of Table Mountain and is known as one of the greatest botanical gardens in the world being awarded the “International Garden of the Year” in 2015.
Offering visitors numerous garden experiences such as a fragrance garden, a medicinal garden, a protea garden to name but a few and the viewing of 2500 species plants indigenous to the Cape, The Kirstenbosch Gardens is a favorite amongst the locals and a must see for visitors to the Cape.
Only being a 13 km drive from the City Centre you can enjoy a relaxing picnic on the lawn,experience one of the hiking trails on offer or walk the ”The Boomslang” (fondly known as the tree snake which is a 130 steel and timber bridge that takes you from the foot of the forest throughout the tree tops and back down) at The Kirstenbosch Gardens there is something for everyone to see and do.
The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens is a welcome experience open all year around however to see Fynbos at its best with maximum flower power then the best time to visit is August-November.
