Self catering Game lodge & western Cape safari accommodation
While Cape Portfolios mostly works with coastal holiday properties in and around Cape Town, we are also proud to offer a hand-picked selection of our favourite luxury game lodges for those guests who wish to head further inland to explore the beautiful untamed landscapes of South Africa and to witness first hand our incredible wildlife, flora and fauna, whilst still enjoying a relaxing and comfortable stay in luxurious accommodation with delicious food, wines and excellent service.
The luxury game lodges that we have selected for Cape Portfolios' guests work well in combination with a longer beach holiday in Cape Town. A few nights stay in a Game Lodge is generally sufficient to have time to relax, take in the incredible scenery and get to meet the local wildlife from the comfort and safety of your guided safari vehicle, and so all of our selected lodges are easily accessible from Cape Town either by car or a short domestic flight. We have also selected a range of Game Lodge experiences catering to different groups and budgets, including some that work really well for families as not all Game Lodges accept children and others are in malarial areas that may be of concern for parents.
Here are some of the excellent Game Lodges that we feature and we are of course very happy to talk you through our recommendations in more detail to help guide you in your choice -
Much as we love to offer our guests luxurious and relaxing villa holidays by the sea in Cape Town and the Western Cape, we are also passionate about encouraging visitors to South Africa to experience the vast and beautiful landscapes that our country has on offer further inland, with its exciting and exotic wildlife, flora and fauna.
Nothing compares to the thrilling experience of an early morning game drive as the sun rises over the African bush and you watch a large herd of elephant feeding noisily nearby or the excitement as your safari guide expertly leads you close to a pride of lions as these graceful predators lie in wait observing that twitchy group of impala in the distance. While the opportunity to view the "Big Five" is what most first time visitors to the bush probably most have in mind, there are also so many other wonderful experiences we love about visiting such wild and beautiful places like this, from the incredibly colourful and varied birdlife, to learning about so many of the smaller and less "glamorous" creatures that your guide will tell you about, the wart hogs, the dung beetles and many more!
All of the Game Lodges we recommend are run and staffed by experts who care enormously about the natural environment and wildlife you will be getting to know and their guides will amaze you by the breadth of their knowledge about everything you will see and hear around you on your game drives. The Lodges themselves are in different parts of the country offering a range of experiences which we can talk through with you before you make you selection but we always select them for our portfolio not only from the point of view of the wildlife and game viewing experience but also that they offer a very good standard of accommodation and are relatively accessible for guests who often want to combine their stay in a Game Park with a longer holiday in Cape Town.
