Outings for kids in Cape Town
Cape Town is a fabulous holiday destination for kids as much as for adults, with so many great beaches to enjoy and lots of fun things to see and explore for all ages. The famously laid back and friendly approach to life here also means that most Cape Town restaurants are very welcoming to children. You are very welcome to ask our Guest Liaison Manager Chuma for more ideas and information on kids activities when you are here as our guests, but for now here are a few examples of our own favourite things for younger children to enjoy while on holiday in Cape Town. For further information or for help booking any of the specific activities featured below please contact Chuma Gwenxa our Guest Relations Manager:-
The Two Oceans Aquarium
A much loved attraction for both kids and adults, we highly recommend a visit to the fabulous Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A waterfront where there is a huge display of marine life on show. Watch the penguins being fed, enjoy the thrill of the shark tank and the magical kelp forest. There are daily arts and crafts activities and even regular "sleep overs" for kids!
The Pirate Boat
There are lots of other fun boat trips from the V&A Waterfront that kids will enjoy but nothing quite like the Jolly Roger! If your youngster craves adventure on the "high seas" you can set sail on this realistic pirate ship and enjoy a live pirate show out in Table Bay. There are several trips a day, or you can book the boat privately for a birthday party with a difference!
World of Birds
The World of Birds in Hout Bay was founded over 25 years ago and has grown into the largest bird park in Africa with over 3000 birds, monkeys and other small animals of over 300 species that can be viewed in more than 100 spacious landscaped, walk through aviaries.
Branding itself as the wildest place in Cape Town when it opens each year over the school holidays Ratanga Junction theme park boasts over 30 attractions, rides and roller coasters. It is not all about white-knuckle thrills and spills and there are other attractions for younger kids such as the bird and snake shows too.
A popular lunch venue for Cape Town families, an hour's drive from Cape Town near Kommetjie, Imhoff is a simple place with loads to keep even the most active youngsters happy with its camel and donkey rides, a snake park, petting zoo, playground and more!
A clever, fun concept that younger kids love, the Scratch Patch has outlets in the V&A Waterfront and Simons Town where children can play and "scratch" around collecting their favourite tumble-polished gemstones from the many thousands covering the floor.
