Melton Manor

Full property description

Melton Manor is a fabulous sole use luxury safari villa with four ensuite bedrooms which is located on the Kwande Private Game Reserve. The Reserve is easily accessible by flights (daily scheduled or charter) onto the Reserve’s private airstrip. Otherwise it is a 2 hour scenic drive from Port Elizabeth Airport and is perfect for self-drive guests due to excellent roads (chauffeur service is also available).

Melton Manor's welcoming u-shape living area and four en-suite bedrooms are cleverly designed around the central courtyard and its large, inviting swimming pool, while the interiors humorously combine traditional mid 20th century furniture with the latest in contemporary South African design.

The bedrooms each have their own spacious bathroom with big tubs facing the pristine bush beyond, and innovative butler hatches for discreet room service. The gracious guest areas feature fireplaces for evenings spent relaxing with a glass of wine or reading a good novel.
The interactive, contemporary farmstyle kitchen is abuzz with chefs cooking up wholesome and always delicious farmhouse dishes with Eastern Cape flair.

Both open and welcoming, the Manor’s inner courtyard provides a focal point for shared hours, while the deep verandas of each bedroom suite offer stunning views of Kwandwe’s blue-lit hills.

Your private safari vehicle, complete with team of tracker and ranger, stand waiting to begin your adventure as and when you please.

At Kwandwe, your days are designed to thrill you with intimate wildlife encounters and your evenings to delight you with the indulgence and romance of the African night. This is what a typical day involves -

Morning Game Drive - As dawn breaks over the African bush, a gentle tap on your door will wake you to the pleasures of a new day. Your ranger will discuss what you hope to see that day over fragrant tea or coffee and morning biscuits or rusks. Set out in an open 4x4 safari vehicle in the company of a ranger and tracker team, who will attempt to track your favourite animals. Explore Kwandwe's diverse terrain in search of cheetah, black rhino or elephant.

Breakfast - Return to your lodge/villa for a delicious breakfast, with platters of fruit and cheese followed by a selection of hot breakfast dishes. Choose from eggs, oats, waffles or a number of other options.

If you wish, you can walk off your breakfast on a short walk near your lodge, accompanied by your ranger, who will share his insight into the smaller animals and vegetation in the area. Return to the lodge/villa in time for a delicious lunch.

Afternoon Tea - Cool off with a refreshing dip in the pool or indulge in an afternoon siesta, then over a late afternoon tea, your ranger will discuss what you hope to see during the afternoon game drive.

Afternoon/ Evening Game Drive or Big Game Walking Safari - this game drive begins in the late afternoon and lasts until after dark, when spotlights are used for a glimpse into the nocturnal bush life. Spot the rarely seen porcupine, aardwolf or aardvark. Enjoy sundowners in a scenic location as the sun slowly sinks beneath the horizon.

Alternatively opt for something a little more active by tracking Big Game - elephant, rhino or buffalo - on foot in the wilderness, accompanied by an armed specialist ranger and tracker team (this option is available at an additional cost).

Dinner - finally return to your lodge/villa and end the day with a mouthwatering dinner!
